What this is

rios.house is a private household finance tool used by two people, the owners of the household it belongs to. It is not a product offered to the public, there are no customers, and no accounts can be created by anyone else. Access is restricted to an explicit list of two email addresses.

Mobile numbers

The two household members may add their own mobile numbers so they can send themselves reminders by SMS. A number is entered by its owner, into their own account, and is used for one purpose: recognising an incoming text so it can be saved as a task in this application.

Mobile information is never shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. No mobile number, and no information collected from a text message, is sold, rented, or disclosed to anyone outside the household. Text message content and phone numbers are not shared with third parties for their own use, and none of this data is used for advertising.

Message frequency

Messages are sent by the household members themselves, to their own number, at their own initiative. There is no marketing programme and no automated campaign. Expect a small number of messages per week, and in practice fewer than fifteen per month.

Message and data rates may apply. Standard carrier charges for sending a text apply as normal.

Stopping messages

A household member can remove their number from the settings page at any moment, which immediately stops any text from that number being accepted. Replying STOP also opts the number out. There is nothing to unsubscribe from beyond that, because no messages are ever sent unprompted.

Other data

The application stores the household’s own financial information: account balances, transactions, and investment holdings, retrieved from their banks through Plaid with their authorisation. This is visible only to the two household members. It is not sold, shared, or used for any purpose other than showing them their own finances.

Google sign-in is used for authentication, which gives the application the name, email address, and profile picture of the person signing in.

Retention and deletion

Data is kept for as long as the household continues to use the application, and can be deleted by them at any time. To request deletion of anything held, contact the address below.
